A great experience for those with a bit of open water experience who are looking to develop their abilities, increase confidence and improve their technique. Hard to believe that from not being able to do front crawl 18 or so months ago I can now swim 5k in the sea. Comfortable clean accommodation and an easy walk to the sea. Not forgetting the really great restaurants on the sea front for when you’ve worked up an appetite - as well as a couple of trips to see ancient sites as part of recovery. Beautiful swimming spot. Highly recommend.

Akbuk in Turkey is a great venue for a swim camp. A short walk from the lovely apartment to the sea, an even shorter walk to the pool. The sea itself is quiet, with very few fishing boats or other swimmers to contend with. Whether you can swim 1km or 10km, there are various ‘stop off’ points to mark the way.

There is 1:1 and small group sea coaching, with tips on sighting & braving the chop. I loved the fact that you got to swim continuously with no wall to push off every 25m, and it gave you a chance to iron out your stroke technique. We did a couple of coached runs as well, although not compulsory, this was useful.

The week is tailored around whoever is in that particular group, and their goals. For me it was to swim at least 5km in warmer waters & improve my stroke and confidence. Although the week was quite ‘full on’, we did have time to visit some beautiful ancient ruins and the food in the evenings is of a good standard & value for money. I also enjoyed meeting and making friends with other swimmers of differing abilities.

What a difference a week makes. From standing terrified on day one to swimming 5k in a wetsuit and 3k in skins by day 6! Paul is patient but pushes you beyond what you think you are capable of, without you realising it! I will be back next year.

Have never been confident or happy in open water.

Day one and 2 were so far out of my comfort zone in a wetsuit never mind in skins that it's hard to believe how on day 3 the penny dropped and it felt fantastic. Paul has such patience and an incredible calming approach that I began to believe and trust. 3k became 5k and I got to the point that I didn't bat an eyelid when swimming away from the coast in skins. or swimming 2k without the wetsuit comfort blanket. 

Can't recommend these camps enough. It's made the impossible possible for me. In fact an open water coach recently commented on how calm and smooth my stroe was. Thankyou Paul and Frances at 4T.

Spoke with 4T "Was it for me"?  Extremely nervous when I arrived. I was a woman trying to swim but drowning. Well what can I say. The team couldnt have been more attentive. A sea swim and pool swim each day plus all the chat and dry training was put in a way I could grasp. From a dipper to a stroke developer, who me!!.  I finished the week swimming 1km in the sea. Who would have thought. But its not just the swimming, the food, the trips, the people and the place are just fab. Lots of time to recover and enjoy the sun. You have got to give this a go.

The Triathlon Training Team would like to have you join them for a training week in Turkey.

Learn about all aspects of swimming in the ocean. Build your fitness and distance. Gain confidence in the aquatic enviroment. Have fun. Experience the delights of Akbuk and is eateries. Visit local historic sites.

Unsure of your standard? As long as you can swim 400m Freestyle and are willing to face new challenges then there is no need to be concerned as our team, headed by Paul, are well versed in catering for all standards right from the moment you apply we will ensure that you will fit right in. You will have their undivided attention 24/7 when in country.

BUT we can also run a pool based camp for those that would want to improve their swim technique with the aim of swimming in the sea during or at the end of the week.

Only an easy 4 hour flight away, our base in Akbuk Turkey provides us with a great centre for training.

From the time you arrive at Bodrum Airport until you get back on the plane a week later, tired but exhilerated, you will be looked after by our extensive support team and coaches.

With ample time to recover and relax it is our aim to make this an enjoyable experience introducing you to the local culture and some of the ancient sights that abound within a short distance while providing a challenging training environment enhanced with an education programme.

Able to accommodate up to 8 adults ( 2 coupleS and 4 singles) (minimum booking is 4), the recently refurbished, well equipped and apportioned two floor apartment, with swimming pools, there are 3 within feet of the apartment, local historical sites and restaurants while you are out training or you may wish to book your group (minimum booking is 6) for a week in which case we would design the week around your requirements. We build in time for all to get a glimpse and taste of all this region of Turkey has to offer.

You can book your place now then confirm when the flights are booked with a deposit and start counting the days to your week in the ocean and sun.

Training Camp Objective

Cover all aspects of swimming in the ocean with pool work as needed.


The apartment is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences including WiFi, internet and satellite TV. It can comfortably sleep 6 people. Additional accmodation available for larger groups

The package is bed and breakfast/brunch and the trips in the programme except for flights.

You will be met by the driver for the 45 min drive to Akbuk.

Breakfast/Brunch and snacks are provided at the base and each evening you will be taken out to a variety of local restaurants. Water is provided at all meals on trips with soft and alcoholic drinks are at your own cost.

If you are interested in joining us in Turkey then send a message to our email quoting the dates you would like with a brief resume of you or your groups race results and splits and or a basic resume of your swim ability from 2020 to assist us forming groups of similar abilities. We will send you links to the Akbuk location.

You can then let us know what dates you wish to attend. We pencil you in. The place is secured once you show us you have booked your flight

Refund Policy

We take the full payment 10 weeks before the event (Some people pay ahead in part or whole payments). Payments will be fully refunded should the camp be cancelled or if there is a travel ban etc. If the place is cancelled by you 10 weeks or less out from the start date the refund is reduced to 50% at 5 weeks out there is no refund as it would be nigh impossible for us to resell the place.
