Juniors and Youths Open Water and Triathlon Training Days

With an exciting summer of competitions ahead whether it be triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon or just open water swimming we present an ideal opportunity to help prepare you for the up-coming season this spring and summer we will be holding a number of Junior Open Water and Triathlon Training days at Lower Lakes Straight Drove Chilton Trinity  Bridgwater Somerset TA5 2BQ.

THE AIM OF THE TRAINING DAYS:

1)      OPEN WATER SKILLS AND DRILLS:

  • The correct way to put on, take off and look after your wetsuit
  • Safe water entry
  • Breathing and open water swimming techniques
  • Open water race pacing and positioning in a pack
  • How to get a wetsuit off in under 30 seconds to nail that T1!!

2)      BIKE MAINTENANCE:

  • Bike handling
  • Gearing
  • Positioning both in a race pack and on the bike / drafting 

3)      TRANSITION TRAINING:

  • Essentials to have in transition 
  • To sock or not sock
  • The importance of talc and Vaseline 
  • The best tips and tricks to help you have the fastest T1 and T2 

4)      RUN SESSION:

  • Key pacing tips
  • Importance of a high cadence
  • Running off the bike and running in groups
  • Example Training Day:

The aim of running these sessions is  to tailor them to your specific needs.

The first training day will focus on the bike and open water swimming with some transition training to keep you on your toes.

Each training day will encompass an open water swim in the afternoon and either a bike or run focused session in the morning.


THE DATES FOR THE TRAINING DAYS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • April : Saturday 13th
  • May : Saturday 4th
  • June : Saturday 1st
  • July : Saturday  13th
  • August : Saturday  10th

The final day in August will finish off with a mini triathlon and we will hopefully see how your transition skills and confidence and competence in all disciplines has grown.

There may be some prizes up for grabs to!!

Our goal is to support you through your race season whether you are entering races for the first time or aiming for a podium in the Junior Tri Series.

We also see this as a way of keeping in contact with young athletes once term time has finished.

The cost per athlete for the training day is £25.

Wetsuits can be hired on the day £5, however, prior notice before the session of your child's wetsuit size and needs will be
